Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 September 2026
1. Who we are
Mousekeeper ("we", "us") is a software product published at mousekeeper.org. By installing, using, or paying for the software, or by using this website, you ("you") agree to these terms.
2. What the software does
The software replays a sequence of mouse clicks that you record, at screen positions you choose, after your computer has been idle for a period you set. You are responsible for choosing safe positions and an appropriate timeout, and for the consequences of the clicks it performs on your behalf.
3. Your licence
When you pay the licence fee, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use one (1) copy of the software on one (1) Windows PC you own or control, for as long as the software is functional.
The licence is bound to a Machine ID. You may move it to a different PC at no cost through your account; the previous PC's licence stops working when you do. Moving is intended for genuine PC changes, not for sharing one licence across several machines, and we may limit how often it can be done.
You may not redistribute the software, the installer, your licence file, or any keys derived from your installation.
4. Free trial
The software offers a 14-day free trial. After the trial expires, the software requires a valid licence file to continue operating. We do not auto-charge anyone — the trial does not require payment details.
5. Payment and accounts
Payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment provider. We never see or store your card details. By paying, you confirm that the email address and Machine ID you provide are correct — your licence is generated for that Machine ID and delivered to that address.
You need a free member account to buy. Your licence is stored in that account. Keep your password and your email inbox secure: anyone who can sign in can download your licence or move it to another PC. You are responsible for activity on your account.
6. Refunds
See our Refund Policy. In short: if the software doesn't work for you and we can't fix it within a reasonable time, we'll refund you in full within 14 days of purchase.
7. Privacy
See our Privacy Policy. The desktop software makes no network connections of its own; we only collect data when you interact with this website (buying a licence, signing in, contacting us).
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the software to break any law, your employer's or institution's policies, or any service's terms, and not to use it to misrepresent your presence where doing so would be dishonest or harmful. If your workplace forbids tools that prevent idle status, please don't install Mousekeeper.
9. Warranty disclaimer
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We make no promise that it will work with every configuration of Windows or with any particular third-party application. We will, however, do our best to make it work, or refund you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with the software is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for any action performed by clicks you recorded.
11. Changes
We may update these terms over time. We'll post the latest version here and update the date above. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
